The University of Texas at Austin
While growing up in Venezuela, Guillermo witnessed the effects of a dysfunctional economy which first sparked his interest in economics and finance. Seeing first-hand how economic instability impacts people’s lives inspired him to learn how markets work and how individuals can find success through an evidence-based approach to investing.
In 2016, Guillermo moved to Austin to attend The University of Texas and quickly fell in love with the city. He later joined a large asset management firm, where he spent four and a half years observing the use of academic research applied to real-world investment solutions. During that time, he developed a deep appreciation for evidence-based investing, and the meaningful impact financial advisors can have on their clients’ lives. That passion ultimately led him to Austin Asset.
Outside of work, Guillermo enjoys applying the same spirit of experimentation to baking sourdough bread; often creating unique flavor combinations to share with friends. His current favorite is blueberry-jalapeño. He also enjoys exploring Austin’s food and coffee scene, spending time with friends, and cheering on Arsenal, his favorite soccer club.
KG BBQ. A food truck in Austin that bridges Egyptian cuisine and Texas barbecue. It is the epitome of everything I love about food.
“The days are long and the years are short”. To me, a powerful reminder of how quickly time passes, and the importance of appreciating good moments while you are in them.
The Arsenal. North London forever.
